Welcome to Breech Basics! In this online course, Gail Tully uses videos, case studies, and models to demonstrate how to free a stuck breech by matching the pelvic diameters to solutions. In this course, Tully’s knowledge of anatomy is combined with Midwife Mary Cronk’s understanding of normal breech and Dr Frank Louwen’s breech shoulder dystocia sign to recognize how to resolve an obstructed breech baby. Gail narrates her slides while discussing video clips, case studies, and maneuvers. Gail has resolved all the complications taught here except the posterior breech baby’s head caught for which she shares another midwife’s description.

In combination with ReStory Birthwork’s in person Breech Basics’s course, Spinning Babies® continues to uphold breech birth at a time when breech skills are waning. One quarter of breech births happen by surprise, and in a time of waning breech skills, knowing how and when to help a breech baby is essential for midwives, nurses, and obstetricians.
