Birth From the Inside Out
3-day Workshop

Embody the basics of birth and learn restorative maneuvers.
Are you prepared to recognize what needs to be done, and when?
Learn solutions based on where baby is in the pelvis from the inside-out.
Birth From the Inside Out is a 2.5-day workshop that covers anatomy and fetal positioning, expected birth rotations for both vertex and breech, shoulder dystocia, normal breech birth and complicated breech birth foundations. In continuance of Gail Tully’s work with Resolving Shoulder Dystocia and Breech Basics, this course utlizes the paradigm-shifting question “where is baby in the pelvis?” as a lens for resourcing solutions at three pelvic levels.
This workshop uses 3-D models, understanding of anatomy and physiology, self-reflection, case studies, movies, and simulations with dolls and pelvises and foam pelvises for a deeper understanding of what it might feel like when going inside to free the baby. Individual practice sessions will be available to those who have attended.
The 5 steps of learning for this course for both head down and head up babies for birth include:
- Knowing normal or usual rotations for birth familiarizing us with the space
- Naming deviation from usual
- Understanding timing for action
- Understanding not only the maneuvers but how they work
- Knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do.
- 19-hour course: CEs through both MEAC Continuing Professional Development and California Board of Registered Nursing.
